Pigmentation

Pigmentation spots are dark patches on the skin caused by excessive melanin production, often triggered by sunlight, hormones or inflammation.

Do you recognise this?

  • Blemishes that keep coming back
  • Uneven tone or texture, especially in daylight
  • Skin that feels dull or tight
  • Products that make little difference
  • You would rather cover it with make-up

Do you recognise several points? That says nothing yet about what is needed — we assess that together during a consultation.

What is it and what causes it?

Melanin is the pigment that gives skin its colour and protects against UV radiation. When melanocytes become overactive — due to sun, pregnancy, hormonal fluctuations or skin inflammation — dark spots appear. Common forms include melasma, age spots (lentigo) and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after acne or eczema.

Pigmentation spots are stubborn and rarely fade without treatment. UV protection is essential to prevent new spots and avoid worsening existing ones.

advice from the specialist

“Beautiful skin is not a treatment but a build-up. We start by understanding what your skin needs.”
